Hoover Vacuum Cleaner Filter Types

December 31st, 2006

Each Hoover vacuum has its own specific Hoover vacuum cleaner filter to match its exact requirements of the model. However, amongst all of them one Hoover vacuum cleaner filter has made a name through its performance that has become very popular and in demand it is the Hepa filter.

Hepa and Hoover Vacuum Cleaner Filter

Hepa, also known as a high efficiency particulate absorbing or a high efficiency particulate arrestance or as officially defined by the Department of Energy high efficiency particulate air.

Hepa filters are composed from a mat of randomly arranged fibers; key metrics affecting function are fiber density and diameter; and filter thickness. These filters are designed to target the smallest of pollutants as particles are mainly trapped (they get stuck to the fiber) by the following mechanisms:

  • Interception here particles flowing in the air stream come within one radius of a fiber and stick to it.
  • Impaction here larger particles cannot avoid the fibers by following the curving contours of the air stream and are thus forced to stick to them directly; this action increases with diminishing fiber separation and higher airflow velocity.
  • Diffusion - this occurs through a collision with gas molecules by the smallest of particles; which are thereby impeded and held through the filter.

Hoover vacuum cleaner filter adopted the Hepa system along with other leading vacuum companies due to its obvious advantages over the regular filters.

We all suffer intensely from pollution everywhere in the society; even in our homes sometimes it is impossible to breathe clean air. Those of us who are suffering from diseases such as asthma know what is means to have clean air to breathe and those who are healthy can easily notice the difference between breathing clean air and air filled with dust and other pollutants.

Ensuring that we have clean air, or at least clean air in our houses, is what each of us should strive for. The Hoover vacuum cleaner filter along with the Hepa power can assure to remove 99.97% of dust, pollen, mold, bacteria and any airborne particles with a size of 0.3 micrometers.

Health Is Wealth

Investing in a Hoover vacuum cleaner filter is more like investing in your own health; agreed it will not be inexpensive but at the same time it will ensure you breathe clean air at least in your own home.

Hoover Vacuum Cleaner Bag

December 31st, 2006

Hoover is one of the top brand names in vacuum industry; in fact it is so popular that often people say I am going to Hoover instead of vacuum.

What has made this vacuum cleaner so special besides the fact that it does your sweeping for you? Hoover earned its reputation for the high performance and standard that it has always delivered. The Hoover vacuum cleaner bag is one of the main reasons why this vacuum is so popular; it is environment friendly, dust absorbent and some are even leak proof.

A Brief Hoover History

In 1907, James Spangler, a janitor from Ohio observed that the sweeping caused him to cough he was asthmatic and decided to do something in order to make life a little better. He took an old fan motor and attached it to a soapbox which in turn is stapled it to a broom handle; using a pillow case as a dust collector he created the first portable vacuum cleaner.

Spanglers vacuum cleaner was the first to have a vacuum bag and attachments; he improved this model and got a patent for it in 1908.

In 1922 however, along came William Hoover whose wife was very impressed with the invention and requested her husband, who was a rich merchant, to buy the invention from James Spangler along with the company he had by now known as Electric Suction Sweeper Company.

William Hoover bought the company, made improvements and changed the name of the vacuum to the well known Hoover of today. James Spangler stayed with the company as the superintendent of quality.

The Hoover vacuum cleaner bag comes in many sizes and shapes in order to fit the different Hoover vacuum models available on the market today.
